December already?

Wow...I know I am a bad blogger.  Really I am.  At least that's what I keep getting told my my lovely DD.  Anywho, here we go.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Harli, Mike and Draven drove here just to be with us and that was the most wonderful Thanksgiving I have had in years.  They arrived on Sunday evening and stayed till Thursday morning.  We had "Thanksgiving Dinner" on Wednesday, but that was ok.  I wished they could have stayed longer, but the time we did have together was wonderful.  We went to the Falls to see the lights one evening and Draven was such a good little boy.  As I was going through my pictures, I realized I did not take that many...bad mom.  I guess I was just so excited that they were here and I had them in the flesh.  I know Harli took some with her camera so hopefully she will send them to me soon and I can post a few more.  We also did "Christmas" with them and we gave them a webcam so that when Bella is born I will get to see her sooner.  I will be going out there in January...wow, that's just right around the corner.  Well, anyway...here are some pictures of our Thanksgiving together.  Enjoy.

Siblings...don't get too close to each other now.
Not quite sure what she is reading, but at least she does.
Just a few small Christmas presents for them.

The webcam.  Now I expect lots of videos.  I've already received a few, but I would like 1 a week.  Thank you.
Thanksgiving dinner.  What a great time we had.
Draven inside a lit up snowman.  He was so intriqued.
Draven got a name train.  Yes, it is meant to be played with. These are the plates I vinyled for them.  I am still in search for the perfect plates to add to their collection with Bella's and Draven's names.

Well that's it for now.  I promise I will post more soon.  I have been very busy making ornaments and I will post them here in the next few days.

Baby 3D

So most of you know that my DD is going to have a baby in January.  I am so excited.  Well last week she had an ultrasound done and it was confirmed for sure that she is having a baby girl...(Bella, for those of you that did not know it).  I am so excited.  Anyway, they had the ultrasound done in 3D and she sent me a link so that I could watch the whole thing.  Wow, that is amazing.  How far technology has come.  I wish we had those things when I was having babies.  Anyway, at least I can see Bella now already.

Some people may not like this too much.  It is kinda frightening in a way, but all the same...very neat.  Here is the link if you by chance wish to view her.  Otherwise you will have to wait till January when we post pictures of Bella then.  http://www.anticipationbabyview.com/FGU/Baby0910131425.asf

I have a few other posts to add, but I am running out of computer time for the day, so I will have to post when I get another chance.  I will be working every day this next week and then also getting ready for my dad to come this coming weekend with his girlfriend.  I am very excited about that.

Also, my Father in law is in the hospital with an infection in his leg.  I am keeping him in my prayers and would like it if all of you would say a little prayer also.  Get better soon.

So, off I go to see "Where the Wild Things Are" with my little one.  This was my favorite book as a child and cannot wait to share seeing the movie with my son.

Have a great day and see you next time.

Halloween Pumpkins

With the halloween season just around the corner, I wanted to make some pumpkins.  I used a scallop cut file for the pumpkins.  I sponged them to give them some depth.  Then I folded them and glued together.  My DS inserted the pipe cleaners in the middle and I attached a leaf.  Viola...pumpkins.  Much less messy than carving.  But,
speaking of pumpkins.  Our pumpkin
patch is almost done.  If you have been
following my blog you know we grew
our own pumpkins this year.  Well, the big one is now too big for us to carry.  When we finally take them off the vines, which will be by Friday since we are supposed to have a heavy frost, we will need to use the lawn mower and tractor to carry it up to the house.  Oh my!  It was great watching them grow.  We sold a couple and will use therest for carving or painting and hopefully my favorite neighbor will bake us a pumpkin pie.  I won't eat it, but the rest
of the family will.

More Diaper Cakes

My friend Lisa had come over and saw the diaper cake I had made for my DD.  She needed two...oh my.  Well here they are.  She picked them up yesterday and seemed very pleased with them.  Thanks Lisa.

My Baby ( Bella)

okay. so I have not been so dillegent of keeping up with the Tummy Talk book, but I am keeping track of Harli's progress.  She has been doing well...except eating cheesecake (not sharing with mom, oma - me) Steak, and Pumpkin Pie (yuck).. MIKE - just because she asks for these things, doesn't mean you need to get them for her.  BUT -- I am so very glad you are there for her.  I love you very much.  As far as Draven (my future grandson,- - well, he is my grandson) is concerned...he can borrow Bella's crocks till she needs them).  Draven ---- you are too cute.  Oma loves you, though she hasn't met you.

Here is the happy threesome.  I love you all so much.
Harli, Mike and Draven:

I just so wish you were closer, but everyone has their own thing.  Someday you will appreciate my thoughts.  Till then...remember...MOM loves you all forever.

May the Angels always watch over you.

Pooh Diaper Cake

Okay, here it is.  Her shower went over well.  Unfortunately for me, I did not take pictures of all the stuff I sent her because I was in such a rush.  I did however take a picture of the diaper cake.  Hopefully she will send me the pictures soon.  Anyway, here it is and I was please with it and so was she.

Utube Video

Hi all.  Okay, this is so silly, but I am so excited.  A while ago I had gotten an email from Cathy "Scraps".  She is launching a new website called Scrapfanatic this Saturday.  Anyway, she asked people to submit LO for her website to be featured.  Well today I received an email from her telling us about a Utube video she created.  I love seeing other people's LO so I went to the video and started to watch....WOW, there is a LO that I created of my son when he was first learning how to ride his bike.  Way cool.  If you watch the utube video, it is the 2nd to last LO.  Cathy says - "I just randomly pulled a small handful of the nearly 500 entries in our scrapbook layout contest! Come join us!!"  Random or not, my LO got on the video.  How cool is that.

On to another subject.  I sent my DD's package off on Monday, and her fiance called me last night to tell me it had gotten there.  She then called me a while later and told me everything made it pretty good.  Some of the favor boxes got a little smushed, but all in all everything got there in time for the shower.  I just wish I could be there, but with all the work I have done for it, I guess a piece of me will be there.

I will post some pics soon.

Don't forget to watch  the video.

Cricut Celebration

Cricut is celebrating their 100th cartridge, Winter Woodlands. I love this cartridge because it has some cuts for houses that would be a perfect fit with my "real" villages.  Ooooh the possibilities.  I don't want summer to end, but Christmas...I love to decorate.

Anyway, here is the link the Cricut page for the give a way.  Good luck all.

Now to reality.  I made a few cards from a scrap challenge.  The challenge was to use scraps and chipboard.  I really liked the way they turned out.  It's great to have challenges at times.  Makes you use up what you already have.

Well, I hope you enjoy today and we will see you tomorrow.

Ok...I know I have not been here for a while and it's not that I have not been working on things, but as you all know, I am doing all the "baby shower stuff" for my lovely daughter.  Well, she comes to my blog to see updates, and I just don't want her seeing everything.  Only one more week and I will have everything updated.

Now onto a contest that I was told about.

This is contest entry for those crazy folks at TodaysMama and Cricut. Be sure to check out Cricut's cool new cartridges and the chance at $30,000 in travel for you and your friends at the Great Gypsy Escape site!

Emilee's Diaper Cake II - Outside Project - Pumpkin Patch

Okay, so I just thought that the "diaper cake" looked more like a tower and I just did not like it.  So I fixed it.  Imagine, you can fix something when you are crafting.  Anyway, I added another round of diapers to the bottom two tiers and it became fatter.  LOL  I guess I should have known that to begin with.  Anyway, I am much more pleased with it.
So, onto my other "project" I've been teasing you with - well, it's still not done.  First the weather was a factor, (hint - it's an outside project).  Then the embellishment did not work the way I thought it would.  So now I have to figure out something else.  I really should have this done by Sunday or else I might just have to sit down and cry for a while.  Nah, that won't do any good either.  Oh well, I guess I will just continue to think.  Thinking....
So this last spring my darling son and I thought it would be cool to plant some pumpkins and watermelons..  So we did.  Remember, when you read manufactures instructions, follow them.  The package told me that once the pumpkins germinate to weed out every three.  Well, when they germinated it just did not look like a lot, so instead of taking out every three, I took one out every three.  OH MY!!!  I would guess to say that the "bed" we planted these pumpkins and watermelons in is about a 6 foot by 6 foot area.  The pumpkins have over taken half my yard too.  Too bad I don't bake...we could have pumpkin pie for a couple of years.  My neighbor down the road says she will take some.  Thank goodness.   Needless to say also that the watermelons never did anything.  I think the pumpkins just overtook them.  We should have some good jack-o-lanterns though.  Live and learn.
Well, that's it for now.  Have a wonderful day and remember, follow manufacturers instructions.  They are there for a reason.

Emilee's Diaper Cake

With my daughter being pregnant and all, I've been searching fun ideas for showers, baby gifts and just because. Well, I came across these wonderful "diaper cakes". I fell in love with them. In a previous blog I told you that my girlfriend's daughter is also pregnant and her shower is coming up, so I decided to make one for her. She is Irish and her baby's room is green, pink and white. So I decided to make her "cake", actually it kinda turned out more like a tower,  in those colors with some shamrocks. The diapers, unfortunately, have blue in them so it looks a bit strange, but it's fine,(I hope). I cut the motives out of my cricut New Arrival cartridge.  I added a few barrettes and 2 wash clothes.  The inside is a bottle of power and a baby bottle.  The baby bottle came with a cap so I "paper clipped" it the the left side and added a little "dress" to embellish it.  Anyway, making this was so much fun and even my 9 year old son helped roll the diapers. I hope you enjoy this.

Shower Invites

So I have all these projects I want to start, finish, keep working on and Harli is having a baby shower and I offered to make the invites. Pretty simple huh? Well of course it was simple just tedious to make 24 of them. I do think they turned out pretty cute though. I kept it simple just because I don't like repetition. Using my cricut I used the New Arrival Cartridge. I just love this one.

I have also been working on another project that has taken 5 days so far. I should be done with it hopefully by Wednesday. Much of the delay has been the weather, but as soon as it's done, I will post pictures.

Tummy Talk Too (two)

Alrighty then, I have had so many comments on my TummyTalk book it's hard to believe. One of my friends daughter is due October 6th, (hope she waits till the 8th and share my birthday- hint, hint) and she would love one. Because they know what the baby is I am creating it mostly in Pink, (do you think she's having a girl?), but her colors will be Green, Pink and White. I've already started and when I am done I will post her book. The only problem is they did not take tummy pics, instead they drew her outline on a piece of paper on their closet. I asked Mary to take a picture with the completed outlines and then I plan, (always thinking ahead), on manipulating the picture so that each page will have the current outline. Remember when we were kids and we had those cartoon flip books? If you flipped them you had a running movie? Well that's kinda what it will be like. I am getting pretty excited about creating this book.

I am hoping to have some other projects to show you soon. I had to work all day today and will be working tomorrow (saturday) also. Sunday I hope to have some craft time.

Football - MN Vikings - what are they thinking? I will be honest, I am not thrilled to have Favre on our team, but they (the MN Vikings staff) didn't ask me, so I will have to live with it. Now all I have to say is "PROVE yourself, Favre." - "Don't whine when you get a little scratch." - "Go Favre". You just don't know how hard it was for me to say that last line. Well, we'll see what he does tonight.

Have a great weekend.

God Bless the USA

Okay, so as most of you know, I am still a newbie to blogging. I was told I should blog at least once a week, but daily would be better. Well, daily is probably going to be impossible, but I will try the best I can.

I am a fanatic of anything Red, White and Blue and anything to do with America, USA. In fact, my dining room is decorated entirely of red, white and blue. My daughter had told her finance that when she goes into the dining room she thinks of it as a big firecracker. My husband says I don't have enough wall space to add anymore, so therefore I should take something down everytime I get something new. I just rearrange. I just make sure it all fits.

Anyway, now to why I am writing this. I wanted to make a cake plate. I went to a thrift store and bought a glass candle holder and a glass plate. I used my cricut to cut out God Bless the USA and some images from my Stand and Salute cartridge using vinyl. Actually, I used contact paper I got from the dollar store. Do you think I am frugal? I then adhered the vinyl to the plate and used my glass etching to apply to the open areas of the vinyl. After the glass was etched I used E6000 to attach the plate to the candle holder and voila...a cake plate for under $3. I just love it.

Enjoy your day.

Tummy Talk

Okay, here it is. I created a word book for my daughter. She is going to have a baby in January, and I thought it would be neat to take a picture every month (hopefully) on the same date of the month so I can keep up with the progress. She lives in CO and too far from me to be able to see her when I want. Anyhow, I created a word book with my cricut that spells out TUMMYTALK. Each month there will be a picture and some journaling. I will post updates and she sends me pics. Here are the first 2 months...I hope you enjoy! I am a bit behind on this but I am waiting for her August pic and info. I should be up to date by September 11th.

If you wish, you can download the cut file here.

New Beginnings

So, here I am. My blogs will consist of my crafty ideas for the most part, but I will probably be updating my first grandchilds anticipated arrival. He/She is due in January and I can't wait. Also my daughter and her fiance are due to arrive for a brief vacation in 3 days. Again, I can't wait for that either. Well off to my first crafty project that I hope to post tomorrow.

Until then please visit http://capadiadesigns.blogspot.com to see where I get most of my cricut ideas from. Diane is so talented and very resourceful. A huge thanks goes to her for helping me with alot of my "cricut" questions.
