New blog

Since for some unknown reason my blog keeps locking up on me and I cannot seem to figure out it's layout I have moved my blog to Createbyburffrau.blogspot.com.  I will try to move my current contents over to my new blog but until all that is done I will hopefully be updating once a week on Thursdays.  Thank you for being patient with my new blog.  If you were a follower here, please go to my new blog and follow me over there.

Have a safe and wonderful week.

Movie Night

Ok...I've really been lacking on posting things to my blog so I have decided to take at least one day a week and make it blog day.  I have challenged myself to post something every Tuesday and I hope to keep that challenge alive.  LOL

So here goes...

Some friends of ours watched our animals and house while we were away in Colorado to watch our daughter get married.  (I will be posting pictures of this as well soon)  I wanted to give them something for doing that and they wouldn't accept cash.  I know they like to watch movies so I came up with a "movie night" container.  I've seen a few different ideas out on all my fantastic blogs that I follow and came up with my own version.  I did not have a tin like most everyone uses, but I have collected a bunch of these plastic containers I get from work for free.  Free is always a good thing and by using these I am also doing my part in keeping up with the "green" affect.  I will fill the container with 2 packages of microwave popcorn, 2 movie sized candies, and I am including a gift card so they can rent a few movies and have a great evening at home together.  After they have used the items, they can then use the container to put their loose change in and save for another "movie" night.  I know how expensive it can be to go to the movies so I thought at least this way the container can be kept and reused again and again...Still going for that "green" affect. Great idea huh?

Hope you enjoyed this small display of my creativity and hope to see you again next week.
God Bless.

Graduation Thank You and Graduation Card, Father's Day also

First I would like to show you the thank you cards I made for Carl's Graduation.  So if you attended his party or sent a card and do not want to see the card, don't look and come back after you've received it in the mail.

Right, I knew you'd look anyway.

This was fun to make.  I used my cuddlebug and embossing folders and embossed the gold paper with D'vine Design.  Then I embossed the black strips with dots.  I made my own glimmer mist and glimmered the black strips also.  The picture doesn't do it justice, but it really shimmers.  I layered the silhouette of the graduate and popped the maroon layer with pop dots.  Thank you font is one I downloaded from dafont.com and it's called Black Rose.  I really like it.  Next time I will try shadowing this font.  Anyway, hope you enjoy the card.

The next card is for my niece who also graduated this year.  It's simple but elegant I think.  The scroll is from A Child's Year and I double cut and handcut out the ribbon.  Then I tied a real ribbon into a bow and glued it on top.  The Sentiments are also using the Black Rose font.  I really like this font.

I haven't done too many shaped cards so I thought I'd try one.  Didn't turn out too bad.
Well, I hope you enjoyed my little card making and hope to see you again soon.

Brighten up your desk

My friend Lisa lost her grandma last week and I wanted to make her something to cheer her up.

The desk set is in purple (her favorite color and mine so that was easy to work with).  The Post-it note holder has her name vinyled.  The pen/pencil jar has her name etched on it.  The glass globes are magnets spelling her name in vinyl.  The clip is to hold a memo or picture.  I also vinyled a little basket with her name but do not have a pic yet.  I will try to upload some more tonight or tomorrow.  I embellished all the items with the "mini prima roses" I made.  I have to say I wish I had a desk to put this on.

I hope you enjoy and have a great day.

Baby Prima Roses

baby pr
Ok, so scrappedlives.nl had this awesome utube video posted on how to make baby prima roses.  I am at work, so I had to punt using what I had around.  They turned out pretty cool.  Now I can't wait to cut some with my cricut.

Cow Card

I got this svg file from http://scrappedlives.nl/  She has some fabulous files to download and she does wonderful work.  Anyway, one of my friends is in love with cows, so I made this card for her.  It's very simple, but I just loved the cow and I wanted that to be the focal point.  Thanks.

Teacher Appreciation Week

As most of you know, I  have fallen in love with etching.  For Teacher Appreciation Week and I wanted to make something extra special for Austyn's teacher.
Education, Mother and Learning are etched.  The other words and flourishes are cut out with my cricut on black vinyl.  The mirror will hang with black and white ribbon.  Hope you like it.
